I did it!!! I finished a 10-km run in 1 hour and 22
minutes! Who cares about the 22 minutes? Think, it's not even half an hour! 22 minutes equals parang wala lang. It's just
several blinks of an eye - mga 2000 blinks! hehe. No bearing diba? ;p To Justin Timberlake and Madonna who got 4 minutes
to save the world, it's like saving the world 5 1/2 times, but they're JT and
Madonna naman, for Pete's sake! I'm just ME, the girl from Barangay Tambo Kulit. So maybe no one will care if I
edit my story, just a teeny little bit. Hihi
Take 2!
I did it!!! I
finished a 10-km run in 1 hour and a FEW minutes! Hurrah!! (Note to self: 'and a few minutes' part should be said in a
fading murmur.)
Now,that's better.. Haha. This rounded-off version definitely
goes to my 'Mga Kwento at Chorvas ni Lola Sha'. Apiiiir!
It was my first time joining a 10k race, and I wasn't really sure I was ready for it.
My mind just concluded that I can at naipagkalat na rin ng tatay ko sa angkan
namin na tatakbo ako ng 10k, you see how there's no backing out now. Dangal na ng pamilya ang nakataya dito!
I am not a professional runner at lalo naman na wala akong kapaki-pakinabang na tips to share for everyone who wants to make a career out of it. I
probably survived this race by being one crazy girl, inventing every
amusing thought my brain could come up with.
You know how sometimes there's a voice inside you
that's so loud, and so unbelievably epal to ignore? All throughout the race,
these were what that voice (a mean version of that konsensya in the Safeguard
commercial) was telling me.
"You wanna faint now? Go ahead! That's if You really
wanna be headlines that way! ;p"
"You feel like peeing? You are imagining
things! You left your pantog at home, remember?!"
"Are you and your lola, batchmates?"
"Why would you want to be the 1000th finisher,
when you can be the 998th? Go run past that sweet-sweetan couple in front of
ya! Ruuuuuun!"
So I run, and run, and run, pretending like my legs don't hurt and like the dogs of hell are running after me! I also imagined
all sorts of things waiting for me in the finish line:
And holy yummy ravioli, it actually worked! It was so fun and exhilarating that upon nearing the
finish line, I felt like I can do 3km more. EXTRA CHOSS ;p
